24th death anniversary of iconic poet Mubark Ali popularly known as Shaikh Ayaz was observed at Shaikh Ayaz University, Shikarpur.
Shaikh Ayaz day was celebrated in connection to observe 24th death anniversary of renowned poet Mubark Ali, popularly known as Shaikh Ayaz here at Kanwar Bhagat Auditorium on Tuesday 28th December 2021.
Well known sindhi writer, researcher Prof. Dr. Anwar Figar Hakro was guest speaker. Dr Badar Ujjan, ex- secretary and literary figure was guest of honor.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Hakro gave detailed talk on personality, literary and social services of iconic poet Shaikh Ayaz. He said, Ayaz was not only poet of romance but also poet of revolution and social change. He was voice of deprived people. Furthermore, he said Ayaz challenged all sort of statuesque that’s why he was neglected initially but he silently kept people awaking through his poetry. He said going through Ayaz’s poetry we find new avenues to explore nature and ways to resist against ruling class.
Dr Hakro talk was followed by reading of Shaikh Ayaz poetry by faculty members and students.
Dr Badar Ujjan in his concluding remarks paid rich tribute to great poet of Sindh. He said, ” We find no match in recent literary history to Ayaz. Infect he was not only great poet of Sindh but also of Sub-continent. He appreciated Sindh government decision to name the university after this renown poet.
In last Dr Saqib Wahab Mahar, Project Director apprised audience about academic road map and recent developments of the university carried out under dedicated leadership of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. G. Raza Bhatti.
Large number of students, faculty members, staff, civil society activist and media personnel participated in the event.
